I need to get better at updating this. :]
But lately I have been reading around on the internet about various people who are in various stages of writing their novels, sending queries. I'm kind of getting inspired to keep writing. I mean, I never lost the inspiration of writing...I just never got around to it. Or I just can't seem to keep going with it. For some reason, while I was in high school it was no problem. *sigh*
I did however write a poem last night.
It felt good :]

my name is Lucy, and you are...
It's been a while.
A loooong while.
And a lot has happened in that loooong while. But I will start with what pertains most to the last post. I haven't read Tempted (book 6 in HON series), I haven't bought Burned yet (book 7 in HON series), and Awakened (book 8 in HON series) drops on January 4 2011 according to Amazon.com. And to add a big ol' cherry on top...I have lost the first 3 books in my series. It was already bad enough my number 5 and 6 are hardback while the rest are paperback. Now I may have to buy new ones to replace the lost ones and then eventually replace the paperback ones so they are ALL hardback...talk about an expensive OCD tick.
I have the summer though! And I am hoping that it will give me the time I need to catch up. It should. These books aren't that big...I tore through the first 4 I can certainly tear through 2 by January, right? Maybe.
I have finally gotten my Nook, the eReader from Barnes and Nobel and I am so happy! I actually got it in...January? I hadn't actually used it except for the whole first few days where I was just showing it off to random people in class. Like, "Look at me, I am awesome. I can fit this in my purse. You are so jealous!"
Even though I could fit a small child in my huge purse...but I digress.
I have started using it again because I finally found the cord that charges it. Yes, I do tend to lose things, and yes I'm forgetful, and yes I believe I have a brain tumor...but that's another story. I bought the first of the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson to read on my Nook and I read it straight for about 5 hours. I could read while I was straightening my hair and it didn't even feel like I was reading for 5 hours! Granted I love to read but it just seemed to me that time flew by a lot faster when I was using my Nook rather than a real book. I can also play sudoku on it now even if I can't get past the "easy" puzzles.
A loooong while.

poor iPad
I was sad for the iPad for its name...but seems like everything else disappointed everyone else.

closed books are sad books
I just found out that I need to add a countdown at the bottom of the page. The NEXT book for the House of Night series comes out soon. I overheard my mom's scrap book talking about it. And, if you read a particular post on my Freedom to Create blog, which, quite frankly has gone by the wayside, you would know that I was so excited for the sixth book, Tempted, to come out about a year ago. Before I knew there was a sixth one coming out, the year before that I tore through numbers one through five. Scrounging up random coins to pay for number five. I was the weird customer of the day for my local Borders. When Tempted made it's debut, I actually pre-ordered it. Got it the day it came out and...well...you would think that I tore through that too. You would be incorrect.
It has been sitting on my lamp-bookshelf.
Closed.
For a year.
And now, I have less than two months to tear through it, which, if I were still in high school, would be no sweat. However, college, while you can bring food into classes and text without having your phone taken away, doesn't lead a lot of free time to read a book for fun. And, walking down the hall with your nose in a book is hard! I mean, it is difficult just to text while you walk down the hall!
BUT, my store is officially done on Wednesday. Sunday the 31st I work and then I have a whole week off until I work again on Saturday the 6th. So, in between homework I plan to read that book if it kills me. Which it won't so it's all good.
This series is rather refreshing. It isn't just the plain old love story about vampires. There is some saving the world thrown in there too. I would dare to say I like it better than Twilight, but that comes with strings attached. They are just too different to compare. Here is the series so far:
1-Marked
2-Chosen
3-Betrayed
4-Untamed
5-Hunted
6-Temped
7-Burned ->release date: May 27th
and there are more to come! Hopefully I can keep up. House of Night: Wikipedia

heart attack alert!
After the last post I decided to change up the about me to make it rhyme...then it progressed into a poem...then it transferred to facebook notes. Then. It happened! "Not Responding" showed up in the title bar. o.O if it were possible I would insert a twitchy eye emoticon right HERE.
This was my first work of something creative in a long time. A really, really, really, long time.
Cue hallelujah chorus!
I restored the tabs after a sadly clicked out of the window and ta-da! There it was! I was so elated! :) So, here it is for all to enjoy.
Considerably Comfy
I am a daydreamer and these are the dreams.
Among them are successes, among them are schemes.
Whether the beginning be rough, the end shall be lovely.
So take a load off, settle in, and get considerably comfy.
For this is the legacy I will attempt to leave.
These are the dreams, that my mind loves to weave.
They may not make sense, seldom often to be true,
But when they are written down a dance begins anew.
Swirling through imaginings that don't seem to stop,
Multiplying until they get to the top.
The top of the rim, the rim of my mind,
Tucked deep away, and if I'm lucky I will find,
The inspiration I seek, the muse that I need,
To keep the ink flowing, my imagination to feed.
So these are the dreams, some big, some small,
But all together, they add up, to something similar to rain fall.
The dreams keep coming, there is no time to break,
The dreams keep coming, until the future I make.

moving to my own groove
for some reason lately I just haven't been...motivated. Hell, I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. But that was probably due to the food poisoning from last night....I digress. I have noticed lately, since my current store is closing, that not only are people negative, they also seem to be not self sufficient. And some people just don't know how to read a situation.
The only card runs left in our store are the ones up front. Everything in the back section is tore down and in piles of plastic, wood, and metal, and yet every day we get at LEAST ten people asking, "Are you guys closing?!" Which is always followed by a, "Oh! That's so sad! They closed the one one (insert intersection here). Are all the Hallmarks closing?"
Well, if ALL of the Hallmarks were closing then they would ALL be having liquidation sales. Which they aren't. So they can't be closing. We always need to look a price up for someone even though the price is smack dab on the item. We have to do math now in our heads to figure out for people how much (insert percentage) off would make the price come down to. I say, if you can't figure it out...don't buy it.
And of course, we can't forget the people who have decided that the store is closing, they can leave their trash wherever they damn well please. List of most recent items found: a full Starbucks coffee cup, left over Chinese from the food court, random bag full of returns that no one has claimed, and, of course, a half eaten pretzel. The whole experience is just marvelous...
So, go ahead random customer, ask me if we are closing. See if I care that you are sad. See if I care that you want to know if I am switching stores because, quite frankly, I think you could care less...just as long as the (insert percentage)
Yeah. . .
I told a co-worker that I was going to go to jail for hitting an old woman. Just you wait random customer. You may just be the last straw. And my mug shot will have me smiling. A huge, ear to ear, take-that-you-person-who-can't-be-self-sufficient, smile. :D

Negative Thoughts?
It seems to me that humans as a whole are negative creatures. When asking a question it is usually succeeded by a "probably not". In my opinion this can't be good. There are writers out there who are making money teaching people how to be positive. Example: The Secret. But if you have a negative out look on life, can you really be taught to be positive? Aren't human dispositions programmed into our brains from birth? Or is it our environment that supplements our ideas and world views. Well, isn't that the million dollar question. Granted a slew of bad happenings could change the way you view the world. It could implant a me-against-the-world-angsty-teenager view on things. But also it could hinder the way we view positive events in our lives. If we are always expecting the worse then when something good happens there must be a catch. Unfortunately in our society that is how we are taught to live our lives: keep looking over your shoulder because good things just don't happen, you have to work for it. So when someone goes out of their way to be a good Samaritan others get suspicious as to why they are helping. Yet when we feel like people aren't doing enough to help they get ridiculed. It is a nasty cycle that won't stop until it is broken into pieces and not just one person can accomplish such a feat.
